Your customers are asking ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity the same questions they used to type into Google. The difference is that the assistant answers in one paragraph — and either your brand is in that paragraph, or it isn’t.
Start with the questions that matter
Don’t try to track everything. Write down the 20–30 prompts a real buyer would ask on their way to a decision: “best tools for X”, “alternatives to Y”, “is Z any good”. Those prompts are your measurement surface.
Measure presence, not vanity
For each prompt, three things are worth recording:
- Mention — did the answer name your brand at all?
- Citation — did it link to or reference your site as a source?
- Framing — were you the recommendation, an also-ran, or a warning?
Track frequency over time
Because these models are non-deterministic, a single run tells you almost nothing. Run each prompt on a schedule and watch the frequency trend. That is exactly what MentionsFlow automates — so you spend your time acting on the gaps, not collecting screenshots.
